Warm and engaging, Colin’s creative and conceptual skills are of the highest order. He’s an ideas man with charm who easily connects with people.
He’s a wise guy; a great communicator with the necessary years and track record behind him.
He can create something new and unusual, or give a used idea a new twist and make it special. Either way, his creative ideas capture people’s attention.
He also has an uncanny ability to persuasively charm people, getting them onside as necessary.
That’s why he’s able to stage award winning events like Run, Ride, Roll the Eastern, the launch event for the opening of Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway Extension that drew 15,000 participants and generated $65,000 for Yooralla.
It’s also why he’s able to brand an organisation, product or service so successfully as he did with the famous Yooralla people helping people achieve music jingle featuring high profile celebrities of the day.
And it’s why his marketing, communications and public relations campaigns meet their targets.
Skills base
Colin is a copywriter, journalist, negotiator and conceptualist.
He can manage staff and volunteers as well as he can suppliers.
He manages budgets so that projects come in on budget, makes controversial issues go away, arranges sponsorship of events, sources funding for service programs, and generates media coverage of people, events and services.
All in all, he’s a good asset to have on board because people like him, and that means that customers come back, staff do better work, and management are happy.
Experience
Colin started off in the 70s as a professional recording artist, television performer and touring musician working with such entities as John Farnham, The Eagles, The Hollies and Roy Orbison.
In the 80s he moved into Artist Management, wrote and produced advertising jingles and dipped his toes into the employment waters of both commercial and not for profit organisations for the first time.
By the 90s, he had committed himself to re-positioning Yooralla as a contemporary disability service provider, managing all of its marketing, public relations, community education and fundraising functions – something he did for 18 years. Then, in 2009, he established his own niche boutique media, marketing and writing service.
Credentials
Colin has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and multiple industry awards for excellence, mostly from the Public Relations Institute of Australia, in recognition of highly successful communications campaigns, community educations campaigns and events.
He has also been a member of both the Public Relations Institute of Australia and the Fundraising Institute of Australia.
